Poynton is a small town in the North of Cheshire East and has one of the largest and most active Branches within the Macclesfield Association. The Branch works hard to support not only our Parliamentary Candidate but also 14 Poynton Town Councillors, and 4 Cheshire East Councillors who represent two large wards centred on Poynton. Poynton East Ward includes the parishes of Pott Shrigley, Lyme Handley and Kettleshulme. Poynton West Ward includes the parish of Adlington.
Poynton Branch has a long tradition of practical and locally focused political activity. This has ensured that all local government representatives are aware of the major issues and concerns facing residents. Recent issues have included: planning excesses and protecting the Green Belt; policing matters; support for the young and elderly within the Poynton area; the revitalisation of Poynton village centre.
In addition to fund raising and campaign support for other surrounding areas including Hazel Grove, there are a number of social events throughout the year. Often these are combined events with other Branches.
The Branch meets monthly at a central Poynton location and new members can be assured of a warm welcome from a friendly and active team.
