On the night of Thursday 12th December 2019, Conservative Candidate David Rutley was successfully re-elected at the Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, increasing his majority since the last election in June 2017. David wrote:
I would like to thank all those local residents who supported my re-election to Parliament. It is a great honour to have been elected to serve a fourth term as Macclesfield’s MP and I am looking forward to continuing the important work that lies ahead.
This is a historic moment for our country. Following the General Election result, it’s time to move forward from the uncertainty we have faced. We now need to leave the EU with the Prime Minister’s negotiated agreement and put a clear focus on the priorities that matter to all of us. Investing in our NHS, boosting school funding, increasing police numbers and, vitally, protecting our environment.
To do all this, we need a strong economy so that we can invest in our public services in a sustainable way.
As your MP, I will continue to campaign for our local communities. We need more action to revitalise Macclesfield town centre, deliver the Poynton relief road, support The Christie Cancer Centre at Macclesfield Hospital and further strengthen the local economy. There is also more to do to protect the Green Belt, enhance air quality, improve flood management and rural broadband. I remain committed to these important tasks.
Local residents can be assured that I will carry on working for them whatever their political views. I will continue to hold regular Advice Surgeries across the constituency and appointments can be booked by emailing [email protected] or calling 07850 005 282.
Once again, thank you to the many local residents who supported me on 12th December.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all readers of the Macclesfield Express a merry Christmas and a happy 2020.
Yours sincerely,
David
