Chris Bennett became chairman of the Friends of Bollington Recreation Ground in November 2013 and with the help and enthusiasm of Bollington Town Council and a small group of dedicated helpers they have managed to achieve and finalise many of the items on our 2013 agenda.
Bollington Recreation Ground is only 1 of 7 parks in the whole of Cheshire East to be awarded the converted Green Flag of Excellence, this is mainly due to Park Keeper Jimmy.
It is the only park in Cheshire East to have dedicated park facility for disabled children which makes the park totally inclusive to all.
Other achievements include.
1. Installation of new CCTV to all areas of the Recreation Ground.
2. New Bowling Pavilion delivered to Bollington by Bollington Town Council with special input from Councillor Jon Weston
3. Re-surfacing of the tennis courts.
4. Completion of New Play Park with disabled play equipment.
5. Completion of new Park Keepers office and store.
In the coming years it is our aim to fund and refurbish the pavilion, making it a brighter, more user friendly and accessible to the sports organisation that use it and for the people of Bollington.
Things to look out for in 2016
1. Opening of the new Play Park
2. Dog and Pet Show
3. Skating, scooter and roller blade competition
4. Family picnic and treasure hunt
The Friends of Bollington Recreation Ground will continue to keep our Recreation Ground the best in Cheshire
